I have been using essential oils in my practice for over 2 years now. I not only see the healing power behind their usage, but the benefits on an emotional level are staggering. I use many different blends based on the needs of the particular client and their preferences. I also use the oils on a personal level, particularly for issues relating to sore joints and muscles. As a massage therapist my hands are generally sore at the end of a day. I have found that many of the oils reduce the inflammation in my joints and reduce or remove any soreness or pain entirely. One of the greatest benefits is seeing a client who has high levels of stress completely decompress and relax to a state of peace that normally would be hard to achieve. Massage in itself has many relaxing benefits but combined with the use of essential oil blends allows the client to achieve relaxation that is incomparable. Many times the client will take home specific blends that were used and that enables them to achieve the same relaxation at home.

Since I started diffusing oils there has been a remarkable change in the three asthmatics who live in the house. I don't diffuse very often, probably only for an hour a week, and diffuse different oils every couple uses. My two daughters no longer use their Qvar inhalers (which are steroids). I would never have taken them off the inhalers, they took themselves off because they said they felt different and didn't think they needed them. They haven't use them for about two months and we have been in peak allergy season pretty much the whole time and we have not had an asthma flare-up. We all do take Zyrtec everyday and use our albuterol pre-exercise, but we have not had any physical restrictions due to asthma WITHOUT the use of steroids. smile emoticon

That is wonderful Jennifer, aromatherapy inhalers are one of the best ways to use, they alloow you to inhale the essential oil without bothering anyone else, and also one of the safest ways to use the oils

I have used essential oils over the years for a variety of issues. In my bath for relaxing, jet lag or uplifting; they are far better than "Calgon take me away" as they are chemical free. Ragweed season brings inhalers to open my head and relieve drippy nose and itchy eyes. I've applied topically for rare panic attacks and been able to complete the task at hand. Diffused gives me a better night's sleep and ceases the non-stop chatter running thru my head. All this without the use of over the counter drugs or prescription medications.

I have been using essential oils over the past few years since becoming a certified aromatherapist. I use them to diffuse for freshening my living space, boost my mood, enhance meditation, and for preventative measures while under stress. I make blends for friends and family based on their identified needs. I also have been making personal skincare and cleaning products. I use them for reducing pain in muscles and joints as I have arthritis. I have noticed that I do not succumb to colds and flus which are frequent in the schools I provide mental health treatment. Overall, essential oils have enhanced the quality of my life by providing a way to support an educated choice in living more naturally and healthy.

I am new to aromatherapy this year but in the past five months I have used it for: burns, stings, cuts, colds, flu, anxiety, arthritis, motion sickness, insomnia, bug spray, migraines, pain, immune booster, mold and cleaning supplies. This has been for my family only and I've just scratched the surface of what these amazing oils can do. We have dramatically cut down on the amount of medications and chemical laden products used as well.

I have been using essential oils for the knee pain i have. I have arthritis in my knee and found that using essential oils with a carrier oil mixed in really helps me with less pain. When i get that creaky feeling i massage the salve i made onto my knee and the pain goes away,

That is wonderful Rebecca that the essential oil helps with your knee pain. Just remember only ise when needed and if you need to use it every day no more than 30 days so you do not get sensitized to the oil. You can switch off to another blend or another oil.

I've been using essential oils for a few years, but much more in the past two years especially since I received my aromatherapy certification. I use them in my body products, for immune boosting, allergies, skin issues, pain, I could go on an on! The most recent experience I had was using a pain blend on my neck when it was really hurting me. It worked amazingly, I'd never really used essential oils for pain and I was so surprised at how great it worked and how fast.

I was introduced to essential oils through an MLM representive/distributor. I was fascinated how Theives oil stopped my families colds in their tracks. Lemon oil stopped my cold sore in 4 days. It also stops my sore throat almost immediately. But I was unhappy being a part of the MLM Company. So I started researching online courses in aromatherapy and any and all literature and blogs I could get my eyes on.
I currently am one year into using EO with my family and myself and can truly say I will never be with out them. I have almost completely eliminated all over the counter Medicines and the Migraines I used to get are now so far and few between, I hardly think of them anymore.
Recently my most impressive results came from my mother being admitted to the Hospital for aspirating into her lungs. 4 weeks of diffusing and topical treatments worked wonders. Even the surgeon was impressed with her recovery time. Shes 65 and in very poor physical condition. But my Mother was the real advocate. She would improve almost instantly after I would begin to diffuse in her room and apply her special oil blends I made for her to help heal, ease anxiety, and lessen pain. I am a happier Human being knowing I have these tools to help my family and myself.

One day I found myself taking 3 different prescriptions for depression. Since I already knew Aromatherapy through my research of skin care products, I decided to explore the emotional benefits of essential oils. My first order consisted of 2 blends and 1 lavender bottle. The first night I diffused the relaxing blend, I fell asleep without my prescription. Few days after diffusing the uplifting blend, I was able to drop the anti-depressant. Then I order Neroli, Frankincense and Clary Sage and a week later the anti-anxiety pill was retired. I have been off medication for 6 months now and I haven't felt this well in a long long time

I use EOs all the time. Lots of times its the little things. Like in toothpaste, shampoo, skincare blends. I've noticed they work with helping my skin heal a bit faster. Sometimes it's not that much faster. Bug significant enough. I also use them aromatically all the time. Diffusing or on a necklace. I've really noticed them enhance my memory, energy, help a long blocked feelings. They've worked to lessen pain in pain blends before. I've just seen them work and love the aromatic lifestyle. About a year since I've been doing this now. It's a fantastic journey.

I have used essential oils personally and professionally for years. One of the greatest benefits that I have seen is within my family. We rarely get sick and when we do are up and over it usually within a day or two. Our use of invasive drugs like Tylenol and other OTCs has literally become almost nil. For the most part bumps, simple burns, bruises, bug bites, rashes, warts, colds, and even attitude adjustments, etc are all easily and quickly cared for noninvasively by essential oils. Working as a Medical Liaison, I am very hopeful that the future will contain more incorporation of essential oils, as they are very supportive of natural immunity and deadly to invasive virus, bacteria, fungus, etc. They are powerful anti-inflammatories, wound healers and localized pain relievers. I recommend them as supportive care, every chance I get. Doctors are often quite impressed at the rate in which they work. I have seen them dissolve cysts, relieve and arrest shingles, soothe and heal fever blisters quickly and even arrest those if you catch it quick enough, soothe and significantly improve scar tissue from very bad burns, Cystic acne, surgery scars, and even flesh eating bacteria. The possibilities are endless for supportive care within elderly, hospice, chronically and critically ill settings.

As I'm going through my aromatherapy certification program, I'm finding more and more ways to use essential oils. When I normally would have taken a Tylenol or used some other medication, I now think of how I might use aromatherapy instead. I have a couple of blends I switch off with to help me sleep at night. They help me to fall asleep as well as to stay asleep. I just got back from a trip to the mountains and didn't get a single bug bite with my homemade bug spray. I burned my thumb on my trip and after applying cold water for as long as I could stand it, I applied diluted lavender and frankincense to the burn. It was slightly blistered and hurt right after, and is now healing nicely with no pain.

Other things I've used essential oils for include my son's growing pains, helping me to breathe better when I have a cold, and so far this year I have not needed my usual prescription medication for seasonal allergies. I also notice that any day that I blend things with essential oils that I have more energy and feel better overall.

I use essential oils mostly for mental health. As I life long suffer of mental illness (anxiety and depression, specifically), I use the mood altering effects of different oils and blends to help adjust my mental state. When I'm feeling depressed, uplifting blends help to remind me of all the reasons I have to be happy. When I'm anxious, calming and grounding blends help me to stay in the moment instead of letting my worries take off. Because of aromatherapy and meditation, I've been able to successfully wean myself off of pharmaceuticals and be in control of my emotions instead of them controlling me.
